Check gauges light.

I was driving today and out of the blue my check gauges light came on and for some reason my battery voltage is about 12 Volts. Usually its around 14-15. Its not the grid heaters b/c it just sits at 12 volts and doesnt move. The truck is a 2006 with just over 9000 miles. Has anyone encountered this before? If so, what is it and what do i need to do? Thanks in advance.

If its that new i would take it to the dealer. Maybe your alternator went out already or maybe you have a loose wire.

It was raining yesterday, I went through some water that was puddled on the road but nothing crazy. I'll call the dealer today if its still doing it. Any other ideas?

It finally stopped raining long enough for me to mess around with it. The positive cable on the battery was loose. Thanks for the replies.

Glad you tracked down the problem.

Driving through water can splash it up into the alternator and it WILL stop charging until it completely dries out... I found out the hard way!

Even though the injection pump can pull fuel through the inoperative lift pump, you still need enough electricity to fire the injectors properly.
