cascade valve????

having fuel problems with my 06 common rail. seem to have a problem with the cascade valve hanging open. have a raptor lift pump. could this be the problem? tried changing cp3 with reman, worked good for a while them slowly started getting worse. will run fine when cold then loses all power when it warms up. gets better later if keep driving but if it sits all day can barely make it home. truck will barely do 60mph when running bad and forget pulling anything. afraid it will leave me in the sticks!! please help

You need to have a complete diagnostic completed. I suspect that one or more of the engine temperature sensors are failing. If the problem is not correctly diagnosed and it is a fuel control issue related to sensor failure, you can throw pumps and relief valves at this forever and never correct the underlying problem. What is worse, if the sensors create fluttering in the rail pressure, it can result in a cascading failure of the fuel injectors, and get very expensive.

As for being stranded in the sticks, that goes with the territory on the common rail engines.

This is not a statment that most owners would agree with!!!!!!!!

Have it scaned for codes @ your local shop or favorite autoparts store, then get back to us. Please fill in your signature!!!! Helps us tell you the right info.

scanner

the only code that comes up is one that says fuel delivery error. already had two injectors fail, and i've replaced those. havent thoght about the sensors but i thought they would throw a code for sure.

thank you so much for the post, any info is a huge help. other than the current problems i love my truck so thanks again for helping me.

Angry

ok, had computer reflashed, took edge programmer out and sent it off to be checked, it checked ok, still having power loss at operating temp. i've had a tech that works for a local dodge dealership look at it three times now and he cant seem to figure it out either. i have a snap on solus scanner and the only code that had ever come up is a fuel delivery error and i'm fairly sure that is due to the aftermarket lift pump (set at 20psi) which is working properly

fuel return test would have found that within an hour and requires no parts throwing.

thanks but had two dodge dealerships diagnosing it and telling me how i needed to replace all this other crap. then after tonsof money and several months i took it to another "diesel" mechanic to start the same process all over again. finally took it to City Motors in Edna, Tx. they diagnosed it and had it fixed in no time for super cheap.
