Shop Air Cascade System

Anyone consider or have one?

I have to place my compressor outside in a small shed anyway and run 3/8 line with outlets through to the ends of each bay just because of the set up of this garage. I was considering finding 4 outdated 100 lb propane cylinders to switch out the valves for some fittings from PA and tie them together with pigtails. Large volume means consistent pressure for paint guns and impacts.

i had one made out of 100lbs propane tanks had 6 tied together and two 60gallon tanks above my shop in Ontario, worked very well , only thing is that you have to have a way to drain the tanks , i also used 1/2 line for better flow

Darn. Forgot about the moisture thing. Thanks for the reminder.

Maybe build a 6-8" stand with the bottoms accessible and drill and tap a drain valve?

use the larger 500 gallon tank. as the older tanks loose certification they sell them very cheap.

Might have to weld in a threadolet for that...

You will want to purge with nitrogen I think before welding....

use dry ice instead. just drop in the night before and weld. an easier way is to weld a fitting on the bottom of the tank and then drill the hole through the fitting. that is what i do with out purging the tank.

From what I understand, it dosent purge the tank, but it makes the nitrogen inert to make it safe to weld. Please correct me if I am wrong

the co2 is heavier than air and displaces the oxygen. no oxygen no explosion.

when i put mine together i pulled the valves out put nipples on all the tops then tees connect them with what ever you want to use mount them upside down on the wall . then pipe it into the main tank and draw air from the main tank that way you never have to drain the tanks they self drain into the main tank witch would have a drain **** already

Carbon dioxide. Displaces oxygen and makes it inert.

Good idea.

On Edit: Looks like it was said above. Nevermind.

I'm likely putting compressor and all outside in a little shed to cut noise for the family (little man's room is above garage) and space inside. Then plumb my air lines inside.

It is a weirdly designed triple - third bay is offset.

So, mounting the cylinders above the compressor maybe not be possible. If it becomes too much of a pain for drain valves, a shot of methanol on occasion may be the next idea. That'll take care of any water.

you don't need to mount the tanks above the main tank . Just upside down . the air coming out of the tanks pulls any water at the same time
