Support the horisontal yoke on something solid such as two hard blocks of wood or in a large vise. Use a socket that is larger then the bearing cup. Drive the other yoke down. You will only be moving the one bearing cup which will make it easier to drive it out. Turn the shaft over and then do the other side.
I just replaced the u-joint at the diff on my 07, you need to get a torch and burn out the teflon retainer. the new u-joint will come with snap rings to hold it in instead. The beating works best in a large vise like papaduck mentioned. once you hammer one of the yokes down, flip it over and hammer up on the bearing cap it will pop off. (i'm impatient and used an air hammer on mine with a chisel) i found a socket the same size as the new bearing cap was the easiest way to press the new caps back in, set it in the vise, line up the socekt on the new cap and close the vise. the socket should fit inside the yoke and press the cap in far enough. hope that helps, thats just my redneck mechanic way of doin it.

ok thanks for the help i have always forced them out with a socket and after like 5 hrs of this i finnaly got them out i think they were the oringal ones...but lucky me when i went to put the new one in one of the ends didnt have the pencil bearing in it. so now i have to wait till the morning and get a new one......i have such great luck
If you have a axcess (sp) to a welder, just weld a nut to the end of the cap,....It junk anyway, right?
Use a socket, bolt, and 2 nut's (one welded to cap) to pull them. The welding will actually shrink the cap when it cools. It's a lot bedder then beating your yoke holes to death.
When welding the nut to the cap make sure you have a bolt screwed in it or you'll fill the nut with BB's, This jacks them right out.

while the shaft is still in the truck use a jack on the yoke to lift up the whole thing. the weight of the truck pops the caps. i have had to hammer a bit sometimes but it usually works very well. learned this from mechanic that used to do work on my Pete
