CAD help
The CAD on my new truck is presently holding the axles engaged, the fork does not seem to want to move , the collar slides freely.
I assume the fork should slide easily also? and which lines should have vaccum and when? there is a red and black line there , i traced them up to the tranny , and up ontop of the trans case , then 2 more go towards the engine , a green one , which is hooked to nothing (where should it go
?)
the other one appears to be connected , but i did not follow it.
Any help here would be awsome.

Update- I got the CAD housing off and in the vice , got it loosened up now , worked some lube into it , tried it with a couple psi of compressed air , and it works just fine, put it back on the truck , still nothing.
I think i can feel some vaccum on both lines once in a while , but it is really hard to tell , switching the lines made no difference.
If anyone had some advise i would greatly appreciate it

well, the 2000 manual shows 2 lines at the shift motor. Those lines should run to the vacuume switch on the transter case. The transfer case switch should have 4 lines connected to it. One is called air vent filter, the other leads to a check valve. One line has to go to the vacuum pump at some point. The cabin temp controls also use vacuum so there is a tie in there also. I suggest tracing the vacuum harness from the pump out and make up a diagram as you go. you could also get one of the vacuum testers at any parts house.
I have traced the lines , the white one goes fromt he vaccum pump to the transfer case , then there is a red one and a black one that go to the CAD , and then there is a green one that goes from the transfer case to the engine compartment , it is just hanging right above the starter, i can't seem to find where it goes.
It goes to a tee right above the master cylinder. On many trucks the tee is tucked up under the rear hood seal. Very common for this one to accidently get pulled off when changing the fuel filter.
Check the fork for a groove cut into the bottom side of the shaft. The groove will cause it the hange up. Sence you have it out you could turn it over putting it in upside down. If this fixes the problem you will need to replace it, or live with the 4X4 light being on in 2WD.
I have seen this problem on Jeeps. With miles on them from 80,000 up.
Just a thought,
Rodney

On mine the molded plug on the transfer case vaccum switch was swelled and not sealing just cut the plug off the pushed the lines on the switch.check it out if the plug is like gum could be the problem.
