Brake Question

I'm Getting Ready To Change Out The Front Brake Pads On My 2003 3500. Is There Anything Special I Need To Be Aware Of. Or Is The The Same Old Thing After Pulling The Claipers Just To Use A C Clamp To Push The Pistons Back In? Or Has Doge Made Us Do Something Special. Thanks Much!!

You are better off to open the bleed screw before squeezing the piston down.
Forcing the piston down can damage the ABS unit and master cylinder besides forcing the dirtiest brake fluid in the system back into the master.

I always replace the caliper pins and bushings along with the pads

Get yourself a 3/8" allen head socket for a ratchet. Makes the job much easier.

Good call Bill. Brake fuild is the most neglected fluid in your truck, it sould be flushed out every two years.

Oh, almost forgot,

I never have but you do have to refill the reservoir.
I squeeze the cylinder back, bleeder open with a tube and bottle while the caliper is still in place with a screwdriver to pry with.

While the pins and bushings are out, I like to hone the rust out of their bores with a stone on a die grinder. This greatly helps even pad wear because when the rust heats up, it expands about 10 times as much as iron.
