02 disk brake axles brake system into a 1998 12v truck
I have access to a 2002 totaled truck with front and rear disks axles complete with only 40k miles. I have checked NW bombers etc for some tech on this and can not find any. So who has done this. imp guessing I'll need the larger master cylinder. is there a different rod between the pedal and the hydro boost or does it use a more powerful hydro boost. do all the brake lines line up? will I need different proportioning valve? should just swap over. My 98 only has rear wheel anti lock over the 02 that had 4wheel anti lock, shouldn't be any issues though with thatthe front calipers wont care.
Big one here what can someone tell me about control arm interchangability.
WHAT about control arms and swapping the axles in in front, I see that 99+ and 98- usually have different lift kits potentially I read somewhere the bolts are smaller on eh earlier trucks what about just drilling em out a little? do i keep the 98 control arms with the 98 frame or do I put the 02 control arms onto the 98 frame with the 02 axle.
I dont foresee any issues with the trac bar as all the aftermarket ones weem to go from 94-02
Parking brake cables line up. rear seems to not be an issue for the swap other than bypassing the hieght proportioning valve.......... front is my concern.
Last time I asked this question everyone said to search, so I have for the last 3 months and then everyone also suggested the larger wheel cylinders. That would be nice but there are a lot of other additional costs associated with the current axles that will add up to more than this swap ever could
Thanks
Dusty

i pulled the e brake assembley from a 2002 i have and i was going to put it in my wifes 98 12v, it is not the same. both trucks were 2wd ex cab short beds. i would suggest you swap the master cylinder and may be the lines to make sure it all works like it is supposed to.
