hey apache, Thanks I've been looking in tech facts and searching,(at work havent done anything else but this). I think I read somewhere it might also be the cam cover?

and it would look like the rear seal.

A valve cover gasket can leak and leave the symtoms you are seeing. If it were me, a valve cover gasket is the first thing I would replace. Start from the top.

Yes ,and remove the xtra 3 quarts of oil. All these things hold 3 gallons including what it takes to fill the filter.

well i dont have to remove any oil because it is covering the underside of my truck

I think that I will try the valve covers this week end.
Am I supposed to adjust the valves, and if so how do you do it?

Valve adjustment instructions. Supposed to be done every 24k but most people report that double that is plenty often. You don't need any of the fancy tools mentioned, just regular hand tools and a set of feeler gauges. I always turn the engine using the alternator nut, no barring tool needed.

Thanks guys, could the valves be the rattling sound I'm having. The valve gaskets are black. I had the enginge power washed about a month ago and there are dark stains(burnt oil) around the bottom of the valve covers especially the back 2.
I hope I can do this- never adjusted valves before. thanks for the links(gotta learn how to do that) I wish I could meet someone that lives near me. Maybe at the Fall Brawl.

I guess you could call it a rattle, it sounds more like a tick to me when they're loose.

To give you guys an update- I spewed out 1 1/2Qts in 45miles today

I just picked up the banjo bolt for my AFC tube at my locale cummins dealer and they charged my $5.24 frieght.

and I pick up at the store!
Guess I have to find a new place for parts- any ideas
What a difference, It actually move now!!

Anyone for bombing my truck? I am starting to understand why you guys are so passionate about these trucks- They rock!
Just wish mine would stop leaking oil all over the place.
