anyone close to Stratton Colorado with a code reader??

My truck just died coming into town tonight. Just like the key was turned off. See thread https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=143012 I need to know where to start on this mess. I have to have it monday to get to work, otherwise have to make arrangements to borrow a vehicle.

Thanks
Jeromy

Map sensor voltage to low. I dont think that will shut it down. do you have a fuel pressure gauge? do you have fuel in the tank? I know that sounds like a dumb ? but the fuel gauge in these trucks are bad to stick. How long have you had this truck? do you know the lift pump and injection pump history?

The truck just had a new LP and IP from the dealership last november, they gave it a one year/12k mile warrenty. Now here it is 16 months and 10k later and its dead again. The truck has 3/4 tank fuel, I know its right because I have about 130 miles on the tank. I don't have a pressure guage, I know that is a big mistake now but to late to cry. The LP runs when you bump the key. But the engine cranks like no fuel. Its raining and I haven't messed with trying to crack the lines on any injector yet.

OK, I cracked the banjo bolt open on the vp, turned the key on bumped the starter. It shot fuel all over the under of the hood clear up on the firewall and onto the windshield. Must not be the lift pump. I cracked an injector line at the head, cranked a couple of times, but the batteries were dead. Charging them now.

Now dumb question. The injectors are internal on this dodge. so if I crack a injector line at the head, by the way the pictures look of how its put together the diesel will run down into the block. I'm sure I'm wrong but that is how it looked to me. Anyhow crack at head or crack at pump. I'm not sure about that one.

Crack a couple of the injectors and watch for fuel spray while cranking. If there is no spray and just seepage of fuel, call the dealership on a warranty repair of the IP.

Voltage at the map is .535 Cracked injectors 1,3,6 no fuel, not even a drip. I think my vp44 is toast isn't it.

Unfortunately that's what it looks like J.
Just like it came out of the banjo it should have shot out of the injector lines.

Ok so I'll order the VP; now for the LP, mine seems to have good preasure, but mabey not under wot. So First is a FP guage, second is another LP.

Can I just run a holley blue or simular electric pump behind the factory LP, or do I need to remove the factory one? I don't plan on anything more than the quad box, so the lines and everything should be OK? If I use another fuel pump in tandem with the stock LP, how do you wire it?

Lots of questions, but thanks in advance.

The only thing I'd try is to make sure the IP is primed. Maybe it sucked in air somehow? I'd loosen the 1/8" plug on the fuel filter lid and make sure fuel flows from it in the 2 sec after key-on, and in the 25 sec after starter bump. If it does, I'd try cranking with loosened injectors to see if it primes and starts. If not... VP44 it is
Edit: RE your LP question, lots of people run H-Blue in series with the stock LP with good success. Stock lines are probably Ok with your fuels needs and this sort of LP setup.

New IP installed no fire

I've got the new IP installed, not to bad of a job thanks to the writeup I found here on DTR. You guys rock!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got lots of diesel running out of 1,3,4,5 I tightend the other two down when I put it all together. My batteries are dead, so I'll have to crank on it tomorrow. The diesel was really running out of the cracked lines to I tightend all of them down. I hope that is right. I hope it starts in the morning!!!

Jer

P.S. I have 12 psi at the VP for fuel pressure. Thanks Quad the Commander rocks!!
