Another tranny problem
Coming out of Benevides today (loaded with about 12,000lbs including trailer) she shifted 1-------2-------3-------OD. But instead of 1850 rpm at 70 mph it was around 2100 rpm. It never went any lower. She pulls fine.

Called Bill at DTT and read him the codes 1596 and 1765.

Code 1765 confirms a lock up switch and 1596 is a possible OD speed sensor or possibly a bad lock up solenoid.

So it could be
- 1. lock up solenoid
- 2. a sensor
- 3. a switch back ( whatever that is)
- 4. or something that will cost me an arm and a leg

Re:Another tranny problem
Well got the problem fixed.

Tranny shop tested soleniod and it seemed to check out fine. Then they spent the next 2.5 hrs tracing wires and disconnecting my BD Torq-loc. I got there at 8:00 am in the morning and they didnt have the pan off until probobly 1:30.

After dropping the pan they found a spring and a small bracket peice in the bottom. It was some type of pressure regulator doohicky. They replaced with some spare parts and had me on the road at 5:30 pm.

Was I mad? Your danm skippy. Will I go back to A-1 Transmissions in Kerrville TX? When people in hell get ice water.

$310.60

Well, we all live and learn.
Re:Another tranny problem
Hey, at least you didn't have ALL of the pressure senders and governors go out in your tranny while driving down the road with the comp plugged in and with no tools to remove the pump cover with. Then having to call your parents and tell them what happened and that you are stranded at a gas station. Then praying that the ******* won't find out you had the comp plugged in and that they will cover the cost of the sensors. Luckily, this has happened before and isn't that uncommon so they did.
