ANOTHER PROBLEM, Tranny is very hard to shift out of park

Just as the title says, I really have to pull it out park to get it to move, other than that, it seems fine. No clunck or anything from the tranny. Thanks

Do you put the e-brake on before you shift to Park and take it out of park before release the brake ? I have noticed if I am on anything other than a level surface - it will put a bunch of pressure on the parking pin if I go out of order. E-brake then to Park, Park to D release ebrake.

If I'm on a flat, no, any slope and I do. It does it all the time, flat or not, but that is just how it acts, like you parked it on a steep hill without putting the e brake on and then try to shift it.

Cable interlock is on the cable right by the pan, might check connections there and make sure they are good.

If that doesn't work, block and jack up rear wheel to take tension off the drive line, pop the shift cable off the shift lever, see if can shift it in and out of park by hand. The lever is not so tight you can't do it by hand.

If it hard to shift and jams in park its internal, likely the detent ball on the shift detent lever on top of the VB.

A possibility.........the detent ball (for the shift lever) on the top of the valve body is sometimes known to wear it's bore oblong, and causing the ball to hang up.
Sonnax makes a repair kit for this........... http://www.sonnax.com/part_summary.php?id=4098&pl=3

My 05 was doing the same thing and I've, with help, tracked it down to the brake safety switch. I'm not sure of the exact name. Someone out there know the name of the tranny brake safety switch or is that the name?

There was a TSB about this I think. I had the issue and a quick trip to my dealer solved it....

I'm having the same issue, so your not alone. It's getting worse, and I always set the e-brake in neutral and then to park.

That's the park/neutral safety switch.

Thanks guys, I've got an appointment for it on Monday, so we'll see what they say.

Still under warranty, so I'll let them take care of it. I'll keep ya posted.

For those that still have the problem. Try shutting the truck off in neutral and then put it in park. If this helps, (not fixes), it is most likely the detent above the VB causing the ball to hang up. (As stated above)

This is all assuming you have checked your external cable mechanism and it is in proper working order.
