The pan did not have a lot of stuff in it. It really did not look too bad to me. I removed the governor pressure solenoid and blew it out with compressed air and hooked up to 12v and I could hear it click. I am not sure what to think.

If you had no rev or for its not Gov solenoid. If something was starting to fail, then the debris from the part failing will make the solenoid stick. The debris can also plug the filter, but you said it looked good. You might have a cracked input shaft hub, this would let the rear clutch not apply. Maybe a little debris from rear clutch plugged solenoid and then it just split and its done.

Replaced the tranny filter just in case and was able to drive again. Reverse works great, but still having problems shifting in forward. I took it a few miles down the road and all was well, I turned around and it shifted from first into second and stayed there. I got almost home and it started to slow down so I manually shifted it down into first and drove it in first for awhile and then I shifted it up into second and third and it shifted fairly well. I drove around for awhile but the forward shifting is not consistant.

Before having any of the tranny problems the truck shifted from first into second and from second to third too early so before I put the pan back on I turned the TV screw in one whole turn. On my test drive, when the truck shifted well, I liked how it shifted from first into second but it always seemed to hang before it wanted to shift from second to third. Did I turn the TV screw in too far?
