ABS light and brake light on !!

This is my first posting hope i'm in the right place. I have a 99 2500 4x4 diesel. I'm having trouble with my ABS and brake light staying on. I've tried to reset my comp. but they still keep coming back when I get to about 40-50 mph. Also my cruise control is not working which started when the lights showed up. Just for info. I changed my speed sensor but it didn't help. Can anyone help me?

Was the sensor that you changed the one in the rear axle?

It sounds like you changed out the right sensor, make sure you connected the harness securely. I suppose you could have gotten a bad sensor from the dealer...

You don't say that you have 4 wheel ABS. If you don't, you need to change the stoplight switch. They run about $12.00 at Auto Zone.

i had the same thing happen, after i changed my front ball joints. i replaced my front abs sensors. and i lost one one of the line clamps, the sensor line wore through on my rim. i replaced it and tied the new one back. its fine now. just a thought.

Sorry about that but it has rear ABS only. Where is the stop light switch located and is that what to ask for at autozone.

The stoplight switch resides on the brake pedal arm, up toward the pivot point, facing the firewall. It will have a connector that has 6 wires going to it and is adjustable for each application. FYI their are 3 circuits in the switch. One for the ABS, another for the cruise control cut off and the third of course for the stoplights. Ask for a stoplight switch for your application, they come with installation instructions. The tip off for you problem was the lights coming on after a speed of 20 MPH, without 4 wheel ABS. Hope this helps.

BTW, if you still have the old speed sensor, you might want to keep it, it's probably still good.
