97 no start, change to no tach, alt ,warn lites

trying to help out somebody by phone , he says that the tach has been acking up for a couple weeks and now it doesn't start, he said something about not charging , loss of enough electrical stuff that sounded like the shutdown relay to ECM , but I'm not sure of that and do not know where its located to check power going in and out , he did say that he checked all the fuses and relays in the 2 boxes , but I thought that the autoshutdown relay was by its self , thanks for any info.

sorry i see were you said its a 97 if he is looking for the fuel shutdown relay its right above the afc. Standing in front of the truck looking at the firewall find the Air Temperature Sensor then look at about the 2:00 position and thats the relay.Hanging right underneath the vaccum hose

Just talked to him again , and found that I was wrong on the no start , whats happing is alt not charging , all the indicator dash lites not liting , no tach , he talked to a shop and they told him to replace the crank sensor and that didn't help but still sounds like that relay to me , I'll give him an update and check back, thanks.
We must be getting oldfarters , need to read posts twice to get it , not the fuel shutdown , but auto shutdown [ electric to ECM]

if he is working on a 97 it has to be pcm. ECM is engine control module on 99 and later models.

is he getting a signal to the crank sensor when the key is in the run position? The pcm controls the operation of the asd relay. The asd relay provides power to the alternator field for charging system operations.

if it just clicks u may need new starter contacts....u "might" be able to get one more start by cleanign everything up...all the connectors....also look for one battery to be much lower than the other and get it charged...most likely the driver's will be low like 10 volts....make sure everythign is tight!!!! and clean!!....if its crankin but won't catch u may have a fuel/air leak somewhere!

if he is still looking for the asd relay it is in the fuse box under the hood I went and looked at my 97 and it is thier. Look on the under side of the top and it will show you where it is.

I've restated the prob. its not a no start but started as a intermitant prob. with alt. , tach , warning lites and now not intermitant , full time loss of those .
He has replaced the crank sensor .
when they replaced the crank sensor they did have 5.5 v.
