If it died and your fuel pressure went to 0, then I would first suspect the lift pump. You need to start at the end of the system (injectors) and work you're way back to the IP, then the lift pump, then the rubber lines and finally the tank and see where the fuel stops. Perhaps a line got clogged somehow.

Found it

air in the system due to too low of a tank. my gauge marked 1/4 tank, and well, that to me means that 1/4 tank, i went and got 10 gallons of diesel, dropped the FF, it was good, checked the PF it was good too, added the diesel, primed the truck, and it started right up...

Thanks

Rick

Glad ya got it fixed so quick Rick! I am reluctant to trust my gauge sometimes because it has bit so many people on here it seems.

You could have a hole in the pickup line in the tank that caused it to suck air at 1/4 tank. My old spitfire had that problem.

Got that one right Nick

This all started to happen when i bumped the FP so high on my stock system. I would see and still do that my gauge goes erratic, it will show empty with the little orange indicator on when i just filled up the tank, I think its coincidence that it started when i started to run the high FP, i fill the truck when it gets to 1/4 tank usually, but now i see that im gonna have to run it by mileage instead of the darn gauge... It jsut bugs me how it got stuck there and didnt drop

IN a better sence here is the best description, i started the truck, idled it out for a couple of minute then all of a sudden, it started to act like it picked up air, and with more pedal i gave it, caused a fuel pressure drop, and it just got worse, then poop, it just turned off, i tried cranking and no avail, i got under there to hit the tank and it sounded somewhat hollow, then i proceeded to check the fuel filter, the pre filter, all seemed fine, then checked the lines, and even removed the OFV, there was no fuel in there, next suspiscion was teh lift pump, but instead i decided to go get some fuel 10 gallons or so and put them in, primed the truck completely rechecked everything, it started, sputtered, got the air outta the system and has ran since then.. anyways....... i have read on here and asked...

The fuel sending unit goes bad, and IIRC its a good cost part to get at the dealership, I see no sence in replacing it or repairing it unless im gonna drop the tank anyways for an auxillary fuel system, and a cleaning of the tank, which either or wouldnt be a bad idea... but the 215 flows sufficient or more fuel for 600 horses... Infidel has said 800 plus, and i do believe the man...

As soon as I read the no fuel pressure part a faulty level gauge crossed my mind. Glad ya got it fixed. FWIW, that's how brandon tells when he needs to fill up. When his fuel pressure starts dropping it's time to find a station.

Also, I don't know if the tank unit is close to the same between the 12v and 24v but a friend picked up just the sending unit assy for somewhere around $40. Replaced it and it works like a charm.

Edit: Just looked and there is a seperate sending unit listed for the 24v but not 12v.

My sending unnit was replaced when the supply & return lines were replaced on my truck three years ago. The gauge worked fine before, and it's now a bit too "optimistic" for my tastes...what I mean is it'll stay just past "F" for around 120 miles before it starts to move. Prior to replacement it was around 50 - 60 miles. Now I really wouldn't mind if it meant I was getting out of this world mileage!

I now simply fill up between 1/4 and 1/2. Hits the wallet less also.

Glad you got your truck sorted out...
