48re - Park, Reverse, and 1st Gear ONLY

Like it says.

It goes from park to reverse or drive fine. Only it will not shift out of 1st gear into 2nd gear. It will not go into 2nd gear manually either.

Fluid is good, changed it and the filter thinking maybe clogged filter. There was no metal or anything in the pan.

Everything visually looked good on the valve body that I could see.

Checked for shorted wires on the plugs on top the trans and didn't see any problems.

HELP

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Any codes? No upshift indicates no governor pressure. Solenoid must be stuck closed. Bad wiring (ie no power) equals enough pressure to upshift. Normally sticks open and will upshift. Not transducer as again some gov pressure would allow upshift to second maybe direct. It would not downshift in these scenairos unless manual downshifted. Oh yes, I said upshift, but in reality it would take off in direct or perhaps second. Find if this is correct as will have very poor take off performance. I assume was working fine and just quit, and not after some service and with stock components.

Most common cause is the gov. pressure sensor and transducer. They are on the valvebody, and cost about 150 dollars.
Change them soon or you could damage the trans.
