2001 dodge 3500 wont start
It sounds like you need a new lift pump. Does the truck crank but not start? Here are some thoughts...If the LP went bad, it could have toasted the VP44 so that would cause it to not start. If you search Lift Pumps in the search function you will find more reading than you probably want, but it will be educational. Generally a stock lift pump is in the neighborhood of $100-150.
I would try replacing the Lift Pump...bumping the starter (which runs the LP for about 20 seconds and "primes the system." At this point, many will then try cranking the truck over and over and fry out their new batteries...so don't do that. Most will suggest "cracking" a couple of injectors (I think 1/3/5) and try to start it until diesel starts to drip out. Tighten up the injectors and keep trying to fire it. Don't crank excessively or you will wear our your batteries. A few 10 second cranks ought to do it.
