2001 Dodge 2500 Missing Bad?
I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.9L Cummins. Upon starting the truck it starts to miss bad and jump around after about 1 minute of idling. Even reving the engine to about 1600 RPM's it still misses and acts up. Then to restart it, I have to crank it for about 10 second before it will turn over. The truck sat for about 4 days without being started, and prior to this it has ran perfectly. It also has 56 thousand miles on it if that makes a diffrence. Any ideas to what the problem might be? I need help ASAP! Thanks for the help!
Sounds like fuel system lost prime while sitting for days, possible leak. ANd now that it has lost prime, the lift pump is not working, or barely working, so the IP is not getting enough fuel to inject to all cylinders. Check the fuel pressure.
I thought it might have lost its prime also. After starting it several times yesterday, it finally cleared up and was running fine again. But this morning when I went to start it same thing happened. I'll check the fuel pressure and report back.
sounds like a line might be catching some air if it looses prime after sitting.
Check your rubber fuel lines. A line doesn't nessacarily have to leak to be getting air.
