12v no start and heavy gas pedal
12v no start and heavy gas pedal
My 97 has a no start sometimes. When is is not going to start the gas pedal is hard to push. The shut off selinoid is lifting. I have new batts too. It is slowly getting worse. Any ideas?
Thanks

The throttle should be hard to push, as it relies on engine rpm to move the pump internals and is just a governor control that follows along.
Most times when a 12 valve is hard to start it is a fuel related problem. I would verify the filter is clean and not leaking, the fuel lines and pick-up tube are not leaking air, and that the relief valve on the inside of the P7100 has not cracked the check spring.

I gotta say, when this happened to me, it was that the fuel solenoid had come loose and was dropping down onto the throttle cable. It was also hard to start because it had moved and was not pulling the valve open as far as it was supposed to. I bolted it back where it is supposed to go and all's well.

The throttle linkage on my 97' backed itself off, and then the truck wouldn't start without depressing the throttle, and it wouldn't idle, and the pedal was hard. Just a suggestion. I don't know why it backed off, cause the linkage hadn't been tampered with, but the jamb nuts on the linkage backed off. Vibration, I guess.
