stranded in Bozeman - lost 5th gear
I just picked up my first ever Dodge last night in Great Falls, Montana, and lost 5th gear on my way back to Michigan. I limped it down to Bozeman in 4th since I have friends there.
Anyone know a descent mechanic or anyone that could help me out? If someone can help me out today (I know, it's the weekend) I've got cash with me.
Thanks in advance,
Kevin

if u are a bit of the mechanic u can fix it your self it is mostly the fifth gear nut . on the back of the trany that has came off if u pull the tall stock off u will see the problem and what i mean . there very easy to fix if the gear is not brokenjust put the nut back on and mark the nut with a punch so it can not turn off or spot weld it .... had to do that to my nv4500 on the side of the road lol. hope that helps

I lost 5th gear in North Dakota and drove home to TX in 4th gear. 60mph made it a long trip, but at least I didn't have to pay tourist prices to get it repaired. I went with a fully splined shaft rather than the cheesey Dodge fix or the cheapo fixes.
