'06 ac/heater fan problem

I have noticed lately that when I turn my ac/heater fan on above the low setting that it makes a terrible vibrating noise. On high it vibrates so bad that you cannot hear the radio and you can feel the vibration through the accelerator pedal, seats and steering wheel. It seems to blow as well as it has in the past but the vibration is new. I have switched the blend switch to the floor, front vents and defrost vents and everything seems to work fine. Anyone have any info on this? Sounds like either the fan is loose or possibly the squirrel cage is broken. As it stands right now, I can only stand to run it on the lowest setting.

thanks
David

If you can't pull the fan motor out of an 06 you shouldn't even be driving!

...but seriously, look under the passenger side. Three easy access screws to remove and the fan comes right out. Hopefully you'll only find some debris....but most the time I find a piece of the broken recirc door. Does the air flow have an audible change from fresh air to recirc with the fan on high (engine doesn't have to be running, all electronic)? If not, I already know what's in your fan.

I will pull the fan and see what the deal is. It does not make a sound like there is debris in the fan. It simply makes a very lound vibrating sound....like a very loud humming noise. In answer to your question yes, I can hear an audible change when I switch from fresh air to recirc. It seems as if everything is working as always with the exception of the loud noise. I will check it out.

Thanks for the reply

the same thing happened on my 06. I took it to the dealer and it was some kinda flap broken. They removed it and ordered the parts. I have not taken it back yet but you really do need it because without it you can hardly keep the cab warm.

My 06 fan makes a vibrating noise but only when I first start it up and on cold mornings. Rest of the time it's fine. This doesn't help any but I feel better since I told someone.
