ok i bought this truck as a insurance write off and did not get it with any keys so we had a locksmith make a set. So after that i got the truck running and had no problem with it till the other day when it went to the body shop and some how the factory alarm was activated but here's the problem after calling dodge they told me that my truck didnt have a factory alarm so this is where at trouble starts now i took the truck to the dealer and they came to the conclusion that it was the ctm that somehow got tricked into thinking that it had a alam system and it imobilized it and that they could not fix the ctm and that they would have to replace it so they did that and now it still wont run and they are now telling me that the J-tec and the E.C.M are both going to need to be replaced since they are both telling the truck not to run this is not convincing me that this is realy the problem since the truck has been running just fine since i got it and at a cost of $2500 for both the computers im kinda not jumping to have them do the work...any ideas i need to get this resolved
Shoot i forgot on thing when i got the truck it had an aftermarket remote start setup in it but it was damaged and i didnt have the remote so it was removed before i got the truck running again ..now the dealer was thinkin it could have caused the computers to fail but im not buyin that since the truck has been running for over a month without the remote start in it
I bought a use ECM for my 02 for 200 bucks, (at a salvage yard) and it takes about 5 mins to put one on. If you know some one with a truck the same year and tranny. see about use it for about 30 mins.
I had some troubles with an aftermarket alarm system on my truck and couldn't find anyone to work on it. I went to the local dealer and asked the service mgr. if he had any competent guys to work on electrical problems. He said, "No".
I found a young man who installed various remotes, alarms, etc. and asked him. He said he'd have it fixed in an hour. He took a little less time then that!! He removed the entire piece of junk, reconnected, soldered, insulated and had it back to starting.
I then went back to the dealer and purchased 2 key fobs/with keys, had them programed and went back to stock!
Find someone who is handy with wiring, describe your problem and what the dealer said/did, and turn him loose. It's probably something real simple and not requiring replacing parts.

You could be on to something there i have long since removed the remote starter but im still wonderiing why the computer is tellin the fuel system do not work but it could be something silly like what your talkin about
