GM Governor Solenoid for 47RE Automatic

Anyone done this conversion? Apparently different bracket, shorter screws.... but very similar set up?
DTT is recommending it and apparently has had no failures to date. Any tricks to the install?

On my fifth Governor Solenoid from Dodge. Factory unit went 140,000 miles, but since then, I'm averaging about 10- 20,000 miles per soleniod. This last one is acting up at 3000 miles?? Won't shift up unless I back off throttle. Worse when fluid is cold.
Good news is they are warranteed for 12 months, so replacements have been free.
Down side is, I'm sick of having to drop the pan to change them out.
With no lift...it's a guaranteed formula for ATF stains on your clothes, not to mention occasionally getting some in my mouth!!

When you say wont upshift, which gears. I have a DTT torque converter and valvebody + a few other pieces and i am having a shift problem in third gear. Wont shift to lockup unless i let up on the accelerator petal then trans shifts to lockup push back down accelerate and trans shifts to overdrive. I can be cruising at 40-45 engine revving at 1800-1900 but will not shift until i let up on pedal. Is this the same if not have you got a suggestion.

How old is your torque converter? DTT had some issues with TC that were too tight. I had a similar issue back when I ran a single disk and Dave Goerend had a fix for it.

Might want to give DTT a call and if you don't get anywhere you can call Dave Goerend and he'll help you.

Thanks for the info, i will give DTT a call or Tim Barber, he installed it and just see what he has to say what might be going on. Its not really bad just a little irratating when you have to let up for trans to shift to lockup.

Mine is in all gears.... but similar. All of a sudden, I have to go to 2300+ rpm before I shift out of 1st, 2nd or third... unless I back off throttle. For now, when fluid warms to about 140*, I get shifts around 1800 rpm.
Seen it before. Replacing Governor Solenoid has always solved the problem.

A magnet and some carb cleaner does wonder on cleaning those things, Rowland.

Tried cleaning G.S. once. Started acting up again in about 500 miles. If I'm dropping the pan, (and not spending any money) I'm going new.

I have it on my 48RE. I did the GM Governor Solenoid replacement because I had the shuttle shift. I have been very happy with it and the shuttle shift has not returned (knock on wood). I have about 15k miles on it so far. The trany shop put it in for me for free when I did my last service since they already has the pan dropped. They said it went in with no problems. I ordered mine through http://www.transmissioncenter.org/

Thanks! Nice web site and $165.00 is a great price, plus shipping, I guess. I should have waited....
I pd $195.00, total .... got here today. Nice quality looking unit. Apparently fixes all high performance 'hang' shifts due to higher fluid pressures!
Can't wait!
