Is a winter blend used in AL?

Hi all,

About 2 weeks ago, I filled my truck up and IMMEDIATELY started noticing decreased mileage, especially in the city. The mileage has since remained lower than it was previously, using fuel from different stations. I figured that this was caused by the introduction of winterized fuel blends, but I'm not sure. Do the suppliers even bother with winter blends this far south? (I'm in Montgomery, AL.) If they do, approximately when do they start dispensing them?

Sounds like a bad batch of fuel. Is it a regular fuel stop for you? If not, don't go there anymore. And you might want to dump some water disperser in the tank.

I spoke with a VP from Murphy Fuels (Walmart). He said they stay with #2 Diesel yr round south of Tulsa (that would be northern Tenn. in your area). So I don't think you will see blended fuel in AL.
I like buying at Walmart cause they turn over lots of fuel...no worries about deterioration or water build up in their tanks. They also guaranttee to match lowest price in area!

Oh really? I didn't know Wal Mart gauranteed the lowest price. I'll have to check that out, since I pass by a wal mart fairly often.

Sounds like winterized (blended) diesel fuel to me.

When I spoke with executive from Walmart, I was only interested in my area. Not positive of their policies in your area.

Where do you get your fuel. Larger truck stops may sell blended fuel for those driving north-south...never been clear on that point.

v8440 - On Murphy Oil co's web site they say they check prices daily and match lowest. In this area we have Indian Truck Stops that have ongoing price battles with Walmart. Sometimes it takes 3-4 days for Walmats to match indians prices but they eventually do. It's great for us consumers!
Every time I check national diesel prices...your area (southern AL) seems to have the lowest of anywhere in the country...about the only area of the country that is lower that here (OK).

It's still $1.99 to $2.05 down in Enterprise and the Murphy's here doesn't sell diesel yet.

I'll be glad to see it lower than regular gas again.
