Question When does winter blend season end?

I was just wondering when winter blend season ends? Down here in New Orleans, we obviously no longer need it since it's 80° outside, but do we still get it even if the guys up north do? Also, how much does the price normally drop once we start getting straight #2 again? Right now there's not much of a difference between unleaded and #2.

No we only blend diesel at the pipeline that I pull from for the area's that need it. We blend it as we are loading so when the weather warms up we stop.
It's a good idea if you are in a warmmer climate & plan on going into a colder region you might want to add a conditioner that has anti-gel.

Price Drop

IPG:

Don't look for the price to drop any time soon. Crude yesterday was over $38/bbl. Highest it has been since the Gulf War.

As to the question when does winter fuel season end.
Usually April first but last year there was an overstock of #1 diesel, some areas got winter fuel until June just so they could get rid of it.

Down here in central TX, I'm pretty sure that we get nothing but #2 all year round, but I'm not 100% sure. I know down in south TX, most people have never even heard of #1, well I know I didn't til I read about it here. I sure am glad to live in TX!!

Is there a downside to burning winter blend during warm months?

Never heard of #3 but #4 and #6, also known as Bunker C, will probably work if you have a way to heat it. The stuff is like tar otherwise. It's the fuel of choice for large diesel engines.

Bunker C is used by ocean freighters and tug boats.
