Thread Sealent For Diesel

I am going to hook up a Fuel Pressure guage and i was wondering what to use for thread sealent. The guage is going to hook up to the post-filter side of the fuel filter canister. I did a search and i know NOT to use teflon tape. Some say anti-sieze will work but i am thinking that might not be good for the vp-44 either. What do you all recommend? Oh and one more thing. I have read to use a 12" hose for a grease gun to hook up my fuel pressure sender, that will work fine right?

Permatex #2 non-hardening gasket sealant. It's been used in the oil field to seal against petroleum products for decades.

I agree, Permatex #2 is the best with anti-seize a close second. Neither one will be good for your VP if you slop it past the end of the threads.

GG hoses work great, just make sure the one you get has tapered threads, some have straight threads and will never tighten up.

Teflon eventually melts and starts leaking with diesel. What's worse though is if you ever have to take a fitting apart it's difficult to remove tape debris from the female end. You need to completely disassemble everything, wire brush and blow out with air. You really don't want chunks of Teflon debris in your injection pump or injectors.

Teflon tape is great on water pipes but has no place on a vehicle.
On a vehicle you can use better products that would contaminate potable water.

YEP, there is a product called "Gasoila". We use it a lot here. I don't know if it is available at Home Depot or Lowes but we get it a a wholesale house.

Teflon paste should work... it's commonly used on water pipe fittings, but the bottle I have says it's gas and oil resistant. I'd just use it very sparingly to keep from slopping it and getting it in the hole.

i use teflon tape all the time at work on diesel fuel lines... when putting them on NPT threads, keep 1 to 2 threads back from the tip and you'll be ok. if it is a JIC ['an' 37° fittings] or an "o" ring / copper washer seal, it doesn't need anything...

The white teflon tape will tend to degrade when used with diesel fuel (yes, I've used it, and yes, it did!). Although it's sometimes hard to find, if you insist on using teflon tape for hydrocarbon applications, there's a yellowish-colored teflon tape that's specifically formulated for use with hydrocarbons. You'll see it used with natural gas threaded piping.

Same here. It may take a couple years but it will leak. I can't count the number of taped leaky fittings I've cleaned out and redid the right way on customer's rigs.
Easy way to prove it is to just place a little tape in a container of diesel. When you check it the next day it will be melted.
