Dodge Cab and Chassis

I work for a local park system and last year, when we went to purchase new trucks to put dump bodies on, Dodge was not on the state contract. We contacted Dodge, and they said they would not be offering a one ton cab and chassis for 2003.

Now this year, they are either dragging their feet, or they will not be offering a one ton cab and chassis again.

Anybody out there with insider information? I hope they don't try to stick that Sprinter thing into that slot.

Hmmm I like to see a van with a dump body...
Speculation has it pegged as mid 2004 or early 2005 for a cab and chasis.

That is the MB Sprinter cab and chassis. Basically a minivan cab and chassis.

My dealer told me a month ago that there will be no 04 C&C's either. There will be 05's, but not 3500. Just 4500's and 5500's. They won't be sprinters. Dealer said they will compare to how the ford 4500's and 5500's look like the 3500's

I wonder why no 3500's? With all the dumps, box vans, stake sides, etc., etc. running around, sound like a loss of good business.

I'm sure the 4500's and 5500's will be more heavy duty, but also more expensive. When a one ton will do the job, it would be hard to justify the extra cost. Most of ours are just plow trucks that carry a load of salt/sand.

It has almost the same wheelbase as a 3500 dually.

You could hardly call that a minivan.

So in 2005 I will be able to get a Dodge 4500 or 5500 cab and chassis that looks like a Ram, not that minivan looking thing?

I said that in relation to the engine and looks more than wheelbase. Regardless of the wheel base of the 3500 model sprinter. You still sport a 2.7ltr engine that leaves alot to be desired with the slightest load.
