Will you purchase a Dodge or Chevy diesel or other from the new companies??

After the 2007 regs any dodge cummins I will ever own is already on the road, barring some crazy change in things and emissions equipment can finally go. A 6.7 might be really awesome at that point. But until things called DPF's are a dsitant memory 2006 and before, and now with CA and other states moving toward smog checks 98 and newer!!!

BUt now that this wonderful reorganizaiton and new direction for the future has taken place. I am confident in VOWING:

I dieselcarpenter swear to never purchase any new production vehilce from the big three (yes Ford too, because they continue to suck on the quality end!!!) unless by some miracle emissions rules are banned or Ford puts a cummins in front of an allison in a all solid axle 4x4 250 or 350 with the manual still available and maybe even a copy of the mega cab.

But, as these are pie in the sky, I feel safe in my new vow!!

What are your opinoins and plans for the future big three? Ive heard a bunch of guys who have been in the Mopar or No Car crowd saying "wow, that ford didnt take any money" and I counter with "but its still a Ford!!!!!!" Some may say its not American but, I dont care, Toyota and Nissan have shown how great they are time and time again, look at the market share!! Non union and most are built here. So I say forget them until way better times come back.

What Say you??

PS - If this is too politcal I have know problem with admins moving it, I just wasnt sure if it fell in the general or politics section.

Will I buy new? Absolutely!! Will it be a Dodge? I guarantee it!! I will in the future buy a newer GMC Duramax to play with, but other than that I dont want anything to do with GM. Never liked their stuff. Will I buy a Ford? Not even a question...I will never waste my money on that junk. Ever. Its all Dodge for me, or nothing...

If people say they wont buy from Chrysler or GM because they needed to borrow money, so be it. But when you need to take out a loan to buy a house or vehicle, does that make you a bad person? No. Thats my view on it.

Who cares that they took loans? Woopty doo. I have no doubt itll be paid back after the market turns around and people actually have jobs that allow them to go out and buy a new vehicle. Just because its from the government doesnt mean jack to me...people need to lighten up and get over it

Unless Greenie dies a horrible death, I have what will last me for the rest of my life.

Dunno what my kid will drive.

And no, I will not be purchasing a new diesel, of any Mfg., unless they take all that garbage off of it.

At this point I say I will NOT buy another, only because I plan on keeping this truck for a very long time. If at some time I feel I need a new truck and the Cummins is available, I will buy another new truck.

I too feel very lucky and blessed to have what I have now. The ONLY things that might make me change would be a 6 speed and/or DRW. Right now I can't see myself every going beyond an 04.0 due to the added mess. I might be talked into just having a cat converter, but the price will have to be too good to pass up. I think I can safely say I won't be getting a 6.7 or an 07 or newer, although a Mega cab sure looks sweet, especially in Real Fast Red.

If me or you go to a bank to get a loan we better have good credit and an income big enough to pay the loan off. GM and Chrysler have been losing billions of dollars way before this recession. Ford went through their hard times a few years ago but didn't let the american people pay for their mistakes, they closed plants, retooled and renegotiated contracts. Now ford is ranked in the top five in overall quality.

No they won't. Ford's balance sheet is looking better and better, and they have taken over Toyota in sales volume. Their new lines due to roll out are highly anticipated. Their quality is way up.

Plus, they have a hefty line of credit locked and greatly reduced their debt. Ford realized they had to reinvent themselves before GM or Chrysler did and made the moves in time.

Ford will be fine.

I hope they start installing Cummins' in their trucks.
I hope all the U.S. auto industry makes it because they'll emerge with much better products.

We can kick butt when we put our noses to the grindstone. Never count the U.S. out.
