Everything that has already been stated X2! Besides, when my wife saw those "pretty red shock thingies" and the TRX-4 sticker on the truck, I didn't have ANY arguements out of her over buying a new truck.
Besides, 4X4 trucks ride smoother than their 2WD diesel counterparts.

I work in the oilfield and it is needed quite often. I use it here and there. I used it the other day pulling my neighbors semi and trailer out of the ditch in front of his house. He had parked it there and it rained and all the water from the town runs down through that ditch and he couldn't get it out. I went over and offered to help him after he had tried for about 20 mins. He asked if I thought I could pull him out and I said oh yeah , it'll get you out. I put it in 4 hi and pulled him out with little effort at all. After I pulled him out he climbed out of his truck with his jaw on the ground.

Every vehicle I have owned in the last 9 years except one has been 4x4 and it will continue to stay that way. The reasons being just what everybody else has said.

I use it more in the summer time. I go to a lot of farm auctions where you have to park in the field. When it rains and turns to slop 4wd's a must have.

I bought a 4x4 because I wanted one. What more of a reason do I need than that?

im really thinking about gettign a 2 wheel drive as my next truck...im not gonna be up north anymore as i am gonna move to texas...i just think the 2 wheel drive trucks have less problems with the front end and a smoother ride as well as a couple extra mpg...plus im really starting to like the looks of low 2 wheel drive duallies

You only need to use four wheel drive one time to pay for itself (icy roads, muddy field, wet grass, off road, pulling an unwanted tree, etc.....).

It's a bonus after that.

I have a ranch, go to the Beach, Go Hunting. Need I say more. I probably have to engage 4x4 2 times a week. So it is a must for me.

You see a lot of ego's in 6.0's down here in these parts... You can spot a good ole boy when you see his dodge though!

Austin isn't really Texas.... It is the SanFran of Texas.... After you leave the Austin City Limits... It is easy to pick out the people that are not from Texas... They are driving cars.....

It is split 50/50 on the 4x4 4x2 issue.... Girls drive the 4x2's and the husbands drive the 4x4's ......

The Brand issue works out like this....
Chevy = Wanna-be-Cowboy-while driving around town in a starched shirt....
Ford = Working in the country when it is not in the shop
Dodge = Primary work truck for those in the country that depend on a truck to get a job done every day....

That used to be the case, but I see a lot new Dmax's doing some good work.

As for the 4x4 vs 4x2 issue, yes the wives drive the 4x2's

I like 2WD trucks, but I now think they're best as summer hotrods. Growing up in AZ, that's really all you needed out there with no snow and little rain.

Being an RVer, I'd never have anything but 4WD.
