Where to buy specialty tools?
Hey guys where can I get a timing tool set for the p7100 pump. I just spent 20 useless min at the Snap on site getting nowhere with this SP500 part # I have read on some of the posts. What about Miller where/what are they?
THe Snap On site, and most of the corporate employees are not much help finding things. If you find a truck with the right guy driving it they can usually get you anything pretty quick too. I'm not sure about the set your looking for but I've had good luck with Cornwell for some tools for a powerstroke so they may be able to help as well.
Someone on here got ahold of miller , and i beleive they came away saying some of the tools were not available anymore.
Here is the tool on the snapon site:

You will need this too: it does not come with the kit http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....da&dir=catalog
I think you can get a cheaper version from OTC though.

Hey Doc, I havent had a chance to source out Mac yet (everything to buzy with Xmas) but will look into them. I have done alot of research on this and there are some great posts about timming and tips for it. One of the better ones was using a oil pan drain plug for a dial indicator holder(glad I kept a old one) as the D/P is the same threads as the D/V
I already have a puller I made (to change the STINKING VPs) so about the only tool I think I will need is a D/V socket. I dont know if the KDP was done on this truck yet so I will have the timing cover apart anyway and it might make it easier with more room. Plus I will be able to mark the damper for future adjustments

Ratsun , let me know how you make out with making your own timing setup , i might be interested in following suit if it works out well for you. where did you get your dial indicator?
You can pick up a DV socket from piers for 35 bucks or so.

Rodger on Piers for the DV socket, I had them on the list.
I have had my D/I for many years its a Mitutoyo i bought for dialing in the cams on my gassers and so on. My only concern is the pin length is only 1.25 long and I dont know if that will reach far enough down the barrel?
