New Guy - Just bought an 06 2500 4x4 Cummins

I've only got 80 miles on the beast and so far I love this truck...

The only thing I'm concerned about is the manual really does a lousy job of covering break-in. No information on warm-up and cool down.... And with 80 miles I'm only getting 10.1 miles on the indicator so since it's new I don't want to make any noob mistakes since this is my first diesel.

BTW I break my motorcycles in by using the "Ride it like you stole it" method and that has worked on all my bikes, but I figured I'd ask you guys since there is so much good information here...

Also is it me or is the cummins trucks taller?

Cummins engines do not really need a "break in". I'd worry more about the brakes and such. I believe the manual states that towing will help everything seat quicker as well. Good luck with the new rig!

Re Read your owners manual there should be a statement about no towing for the first 500 miles and then tow below 50 mph for the second 500 miles!

These warnings are not for the motor but the rear end and trans.

My manual in the 06 says no break in required for cummings and actually recommends towing to help the process properly.just read it again front to back today. Yes I was bored...
