Whats it worth?? CR killed by ether???
#16
I am waiting to hear a price before I get to worried about it. I guess it was parked because the company was in some money problems, and the owner had screwed the company out of a bunch of money, and when he was outed as the owner they stashed the truck so he couldn't get it. Now the company owns it and isn't using it. He did say the truck smokes on startup and has some engine noise but not like my buddy was talking. Oh and the truck only has 136K on it. I will keep everyone updated as I find out more about it.

Ether is an excellent way to kill a diesel!
People that use it almost always use WAY too much. All it takes is a little sniff, and if a Cummins needs it there could be something else wrong.
I've seen ether break crankshafts and break pistons. It can also damage ring lands and cause later slow damage due to lowered compression. Then more is needed to get it going, and on and on.
Don't assume it's got a bad injector, especially if they said it had ether damage.
