Anyone know the stock offset and/or backspacing on the '05 2500 stock 17x8 wheels ??? Also please clarify if the offset is positive or negative.

Thanks in advance ... trying to find wheels that dont stick out too far (like everone else is having troubles with)

 

Ok, I guess I will answer myself

Discount Tire looked it up and its a +45mm offset. So, the official specs for the stock wheels is 17x8 8-165.1 45mm.

The guy told me (as everyone knows) there are few wheels out there that wont stick out a bit. He said the Weld Commando XT does come in the offset but they are not cheap of coarse.

There are now several wheels for us with +20 to +25mm offsets. So, these would stick out about an inch plus whatever increase in wheel width/2 you decide on. I am leaning towards 25mm offset on an 8.5 or 9 in wheel and there are a couple of choices of wheels.

Now the question is do I go 18in or 20in tall .... huuuummmm .....

 

6.5" backspace and 45mm positive offset I believe. The Kore weld wheels are the only wheels produced that have the stock specs and are designed for our trucks. They don't stick out much, if any. You could also get some custom wheels built to spec by boyd coddington or the like..
