18x9 wheels, what backspacing and offset should I choose?
18x9 wheels, what backspacing and offset should I choose?
I need some more opinions on what to do before I buy... I don't know much about backspacing and offsets.
I want to run 35x12.50 or 13 on 18x9 rims. I've been told by a good source I need 6 inches of backspacing. The rims I want have 5 inches of backspacing.
Don't want to get something I'll regret.
They are on sale through 4 wheel parts, I'm wondering if they'd order them to their store and let me try them...
What backspacing and offset is optimal on 18x9 rims with a 12.5 inch wide tire. I won't run fenderflares so they can't stick out a lot.
Here's the wheel:

Also, what are some other sites to search?
Thanks!
Joe

The stock Dodge 17x8 wheels are about 6.25" backspacing with +42mm offset.
So with less backspacing/offset they will stick out more. Add another 1" in wheel width, about the same in tire width and they stick out even more. Not sure exactly but those wheels with 35x12.50s probably stick out 2 1/2" farther than stock. Do a search on wheels or backspacing, there are a lot of threads on this. Probably have rubbing issues for sure without lift kit of some kind.

ptgarcia I think is his name is pretty good with this stuff and told me optimal would be 6 inches... But I can't find any with 6 inches of backspacing...
I'm positive I'm going with 18x9 and 2.5 or 3 inches of lift up front. And procomp xtreme a/t or ATZ tires in 35x12.50 or 13. The procomps are actually 34.8x12.8....

Yeah, agreed on liking them that stick out a little. But I don't want a 70's hot rod look to it
with them hanging way out... Also, don't want any headaches.
And yeah on that link if you look at the dates I found that in a search.. I've PM'd the guy and he hasn't got back to me yet.

I'm running those tires now, ProComp Xtreme A/T on 18x9 wheels. My wheels are Eagle 114's and are 6" BS with +22mm OS. I don't know for sure but I'd say with a 3" lift and the setup you're looking at it would probably work but you may need to trim the airdam to clear for turning.
Nice truck. That's about as far as I'd want it to stick out.
Your 355 tires are going to be a quite a bit wider than the 35x12.50... About 1.5 inches. So now I'm wondering if I can hit that look with the 12.50...
Edit: those tires look like Nittos now that I look at them
. And FYI I got those from Pull U 2's gallery.

So what you are telling me is that those are 355 tires on wheels with effective backspacing of 5.75 when you calculate the 1/4inch spacers into the equation?
Do you have the spacers on because the track width is different front to back or just because you wanted them to stick out a little more in the back?
Thanks for the help!

Joe- I just got the wheels from Centerline and I haven't had them installed yet. I'm doing the lift, tires, wheels, and a few other things all in one day, probably next week. I'll definately post pics.
I have 18 X 9 with 5" backspacing I'm running a Kore Recon and 35 X 12.50 Pro Comp Xtreme AT tires. The tire do rub a little but not bad.
