Warranty is about done

My truck has 34,000 miles on it and at 36000 she is done for. Is there a way i can go through dodge and get a longer one? I know the motor is covered longer than 36000 but im just wondering about the dodge parts warranty. Thanks for all info

Why worry about it?

Drive it like you stole it.

Ive also heard Auto Club runs a good warranty, but that was over on a Volkswagen forum Im a member of, but Im sure the are some good private company warranties out there. However, you gotta be careful in how things are worded, what is actually covered, etc. Id get it through Dodge if I did it.

I bought my 01 in 2003. Had 50k on it and I bought a 3 year 36k extended warranty. Low and behold, I never used it once, since Ive never had a problem on my truck with absolutely anything. Regular maintenance is all I ever did by myself. If I did it again, I wouldnt waste the money since Cummins warranties the big items that are actually going to cost money to fix, for 100k or 5 years I think it is.

Well, thats just my experience and my .02

My take - you have to really watch these sort of things...it's a way the dealer makes lots of $$$ and usually provides very little real services, except in the event of a catastrophe.

Remember it won't cover "wear items." Some won't cover things like radiators, alternators and intercoolers either, only "interally lubricated" parts. Most of my vechiles tend to develop "external lubrication" at some point as well. Plus you'll be spending as much as $1500 on this warranty. Do you epect that much to go wrong?

I would read the fine print closely, do your homework, and give it several thoughts before signing on the dotted line.

What he said, and there is also usually a deductable. By the time the deductable is applied it doesn't pay much for most repairs. Alot of repairs are only partially covered. Before you buy an extended warranty I would make sure you read the fine print. My idea is if you were to put the money away in a savings or somewhere like that rather than spend it on the warranty you'd have the money for the repair. Extended warranties usually aren't worth it.

Warranties on small things like TV's etc are not worh it but when it comes to cars and trucks its a bit different. Do you know that a ECM runs over $2,000.00 to replace. All it takes is one repair after the 3/36 for the warranty to pay for its self.

Just my $0.02
