Angry Flying J VS Mom/Pa fuel.... huge difference

Yepp difference is performance was very noticeable, Mom/Pa had more power. I was very surprised. For the last 5k I have only been running Flying J but started to notice a power loss. I ran it too low on fuel and wouldn't have been able to reach any truck stop so I had to do the Mom and Pop station. Been using stanadyne for about 10k. Pulled out of the local staion hit the go pedal and it was way better...

SO I am confused?

I am going to change fuel filter tomorrow and see if I pick up more power, only been about 3k miles.

OMT, the local mom and pop stations fuel has brought back the ruff idle and both where ULSD.

Any ideas?

The mom and pop places have very inconsistent fuel. One load might be great the next could be bad. Plus if the tanks were low or they just received fuel you'd probably get some serious water in the fuel. Better performance or not, I'll stick with consistency.

I have not noticed any power differences, but Walmart diesel vs Flying-J, there is atleast a mpg increase with Walmart fuel.

Gary, you'll need to check lots more of the Ma/Pop places and more Flying J's to get a larger statistical sample before you hang your hat on one place. I wouldn't bet your paycheck on a sample size of two.

On the other hand, it sounds like you've found a great place to buy your fuel.
