I know my bus never had A/C in it growing up.

Well, this should REALLY frustrate you then. We have four Brand new chevy mini vans that are all wheel drive with dvd sceens in then and wood grain finish. But, it gets better. We also have a HUGE brand new JD 7320 tractor that we don't use for squat AND a really big spanking new front end loader that we use to move snow once in a while along with a spanking new Cat dozer that we really don't use for anything either.. ...

I have no idea why we have these. We have PLENTY of other equipment that we do you and we seem to get by just fine without using these huge pieces of equipment.

Sorry for the hijack, but on the subject of armed forces race teams, i think it's a great investment. They are after the 17-25 year old men crowd, what better way to make them consider the armed forces than to advertise on something that goes really fast, whether or not it makes sense a lot of these people put a lot of stock in whatever their favorite driver advertises for, so they see that driver win on sunday and join up on monday.

Our local recruitment vehicle is lifted Hummer H2.

I hope it was confiscated from a meth dealer or something...

You think that's expensive, you don't even want to know what this Silverado cost:

(at least it has a purpose though)

We got abou 15 cummins 4 or 5 Power strokes and they ARE BRAND NEW 08s
We use them to pull boats. If they do not tow with it they use it to haul stuff for the pay load. The gov follows all the ratings for weight.

In Fort Worth, we have PowerStroke's as our "Heavy Line Patrol Officers" which means they pull over big rigs, and scare the living daylights out of anyone in anything smaller than a f250 when the come chasing after them. The City of FW also has Cummins Dodge's for road worker's trucks, as well as some dually Cummins Dodge's. *shrugs* Whatever the government wants, it gets.

The Army recruiters here pull around their mobile rock climbing wall with a powerjoke.

The thing that baffles me is that all the police vehicles on base here are brand new Tahoes - (they get new every 2 years) - all they do is leave them idling at guard stations and putt around base at the 15mph speed limit. They do have 1 or 2 new F150's, even better. Tell me what the base police need with such vehicles? This is a Department of Defense base, they shouldn't need more than a bycicle. Waste of gas and terrible for the economy.

Yeah are main tow vehicles are 1990 Dodge tugs (CTDs). To give you an idea how much we use them, consider they do a 1-2 mile drive, at most maybe 3-4 miles. They are governed to about 35mph, but we tow at 10-15mph depending on single or tandem trailer.

One truck has 106,000 miles, the other has just under 90,000 miles.

Now I know some of the 1st gen owners don't even have that many miles on their own trucks

I agree the gov has some screwy spending system. Our shop needs some nitrile gloves, RTV, latch kits for slings, etc. All stuff we need in order to do our job.

All I hear is no money, no money, no money. BUT they the shop down the road from us gets 3 huge flat screen TVs, like $5000 each, and they don't even had a use for them.
