4k gov kit.

Well I finally got it in and I'm very impressed. It is kinda hard to get unsed to but I can manage. I did the pump springs myself. I just want to say how are you guys going in from the side. I could not fit my hand in there to get to the pump. Yes I removed the plastic fender cover. I did mine from the top and it was pretty easy. I have a few busted knuckles but not more than normal.
My truck seems to stumble around 3k but after I pass that it runs like normal. The gas pedal is very jumppy if you don't control your foot fery well.
I also had to remove the lever that is activated by the fuel shutoff selinoid to get the cover off to put in the springs. For those of you who have never put one in I will try to answer and questions if you have any.

Re:4k gov kit.

Tis not a problem ..... pull the shutoff soleniod ... cut the lock wire ... pull the plug .. and there they are ... plenty of room to work .. and much safer than going through the top

Re:4k gov kit.

I don't really care because I did mine fro the top and it was easy. I tried for an hour or two to find a way of goig through the side. I think my truck is different somehow. The closest O got was one finger on the side of the pump.

Heres a funny thing for ya. As I was putting on the gov kit my dad walks up and says "why do you need to do that to a good truck" I was said I started this last year and next will be my new clutch. He shoohis head and said that he wants his trucks not to be messed with. walks ove jumps in my 93 ctd pulls out of the drive way leaveing a big cloud of smoke and drives up the road with a smile on his face. :
yeah dad what ever.
DM01

Re:4k gov kit.

I think I mad a boo boo. I went through the side of the pump but through the top of the truck. I Think I was told wrong by a guy down at the BMD dyno day. he said I had to take out the plastic panel over the tire to get to the sde of the pump. Thats what I thought you guys who said you went from the side did. :
oops

;D
Also How do you know if you did not tighten up the springs just right? If they are too loose what are the effects? Would this cause my little miss after 2800?
thanks

Re:4k gov kit.

DM1:
When I installed my 3K springs the go petal was very sensitive to any pressure. I would actually get a hop and it would get almost out of control. I let off the springs till I thought the retainers were going to fall off. NOw it has been about a 2 years and I still have a little but have learned to control it. I have a sort of dead spot now but for some reason I think it has to do with the 370's and not the springs. When it warms up I'm going fishing to see what I find in there. The first thing is the injectors are coming out.

I'll let you know what happens.

..Preston..

Re:4k gov kit.

Most people Like the 4K kit cause it will still fuel hard were the 3K's start to de-fuel, you are correct in saying that most motors won't make more power at high RPM, the dyno will show you that.

Jim
