Turbo addition to a non-turbo tractor...What size?
Turbo addition to a non-turbo tractor...What size?
I've got a small kubota diesel I'd kill to get a turbo on. Stats are:
-14HP stock
-675 cc displacement
-Bore is 2 1/2" (64 mm)
-Stroke is 2 3/4" (70 mm)
-22:1 Compression ratio
-3 cylinder.
Manufacturing of the flanges and fabrication to physically get one on it is no problem, but i'm concerned with the size of turbo I need to consider.
How does one go about determining what size turbo to go with? I'd like to achieve probably no more than 10PSI of boost, just due to the fact that I don't know whether the head will stay on it or not.

Yamaha made the Seca motorcycle in the 80s that was 650cc and turbocharged. The displacement is pretty close as far as the engines are concerned.
Don't know if it work or not.

if that motor has a lot of hours on it you will kill it from what i've been told as far as putting a turbo on a truck with a lot of miles i would think it would be the same idea

I would be more concerned about short block failure or a fueling failure from either fueling too hard in the NA range or not enough in the boosted range, though that would be less likely than fueling too hard in the NA range.
Many turbo variants of a NA engine use heavier components.
