Truck questions

I am new to the board, a buddy of mine told me about this place and wanted to post a few questions about my truck.

I have a 2003 Dodge quad cab 4x4 automatic. I am closing in on 70K miles and have never gotten better than 16mpg. If I tow a trailer with a load on it, I usually drop down below 14mpg but stay close to it. What kind of mileage do you guys get out of a 4x4 Dodge?

A coworkers wife is working for a company in the Houston area that makes deisel fuel burn cleaner, they are quoting numbers that in the next few years the fuel we burn and the improvements with the trucks will have them burning as clean as cars do. With that said, does anyone know if they will remove the $4K penalty of buying a diesel new?

Mileage

I get better than 16 empty, but only one time got 20, didn't go over 55 MPH. But I sure don't get 14 pulling my 9000 lb plus fiver. One time got 13 going around 62 MPH in O.D. and I have a 3.55 axle ratio and no 4 by 4. waam Holland, Mich.

I'm starting to average 21mpg; my mpg is getting better as I add more miles. I generally drive in the city (empty) and rarely get over 75mph if on the interstate.
