This is a 1990 Landcruiser diesel, in Haiti. It is heavier than a 1/2 ton, and would certainly compare to a 3/4 ton, although a little smaller. 6 cylinder, non turbo, indestructible. And, sips the diesel. Very economical, and one of the only trucks that will survive there. Certainly no US made trucks do- I am very loyal to the red, white, and blue, but no American made truck in Haiti hasn't had welding/bracing done to the frame. Incidently, Americanized Toyotas, like the Tacoma and T-100, don't hold up well there, either. Only the international versions, like the Cruiser and the Hilux.

Looks like the new landcruiser has a turbo diesel intercooled V8...

This powerplant could be the one in the pickup...

"Under the bonnet you'll find Toyota's first ever intercooled, turbo diesel V8 delivering a massive 430Nm of earth-shaking torque for serious towing grunt."

http://www.toyota.com.au/landcruiser-70-series

" * 4.5 litre V8 turbo diesel engine
* Variable vane turbocharger with intercooler
* DOHC (Direct Over Head Camshafts) with 32 valves with common-rail direct injection
* 151kW power – Over 20% better than the previous Turbo Diesel
* Fuel economy (L/100Km)* – 11.9L Troop Carrier & Wagon, Cab Chassis 11.5L

* Class-leading 430Nm of torque
* Meets strict Euro IV emission standards
* 5 speed manual transmission with High/Low range
* Over 1500km range for vehicles fitted with 180L tanks (Cab Chassis and Troop Carrier)
* Extended 8-model line-up"

11.5L/100km is right around 20MPG US.
