Yeah I would like to know. It would be nice to see a Toyota Cat Diesel Crew Max. That would be the Ideal truck.

A Toyota truck with a Cat engine. Uhhh, No thanks. The new Tundra is already in the 40,000 dollar range. That sucker would be expensive, like 55 to 60 thousand. None for me thanks.

Anyone notice all of the Toyota ads featuring Caterpillar products in them? Kind of weird. EH! Personally I would like to just see a 4-Runner or Hilux 4-door with a Toyota 3.0 Liter diesel in it. Not gonna do what my Ram does but a superb Offroad vehicle or something to replace the Wife's Expedition.

Currenty Cummins is the only one manufacturing a diesel that is tried and truly designed for a small truck.....Toyata diesel=pipe dream. Forget Cat. They make good engines but not one for our market.

I just picked up my new Dodge a few months ago, Took it in three weeks ago for small stuff, They said the would call me when parts came in. LOL No call. I'm going back this Monday AM to Demand the not only fix the small stuff but the A/C as well. you see that broke as well. Funny My cheap Hundi never has been back to a dealership 83,000 on it now! If the American MFG keep this up they are all in trouble

I personally don't think it will happen...but I've been wrong before. Gonna have to get one of our salesmen cornered up.... Ask them what they may have heard. They do have the 6.6 ACERT out that would be a drop-in!!
I'd love to have one, wonder what Toyota warranty department would think about their truck frame being broken and their transmission parts in a 5 gallon bucket after a flashfile update on the Cat???
I would still worry about affordability though. Put a Toyota emblem on the same fender as a Cat emblem... that fender alone would cost more than my new truck!.

I will seriously look @ buying a Toyota Diesel in either a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton. For my job I use my current 04.5 to drive around in the oilfields here in Northern BC. As part of my job duties, I have to drive around 300 km's per day. On average I use about 46 or 47 liters every day. I also have to pay for every repair, insurance, tires, brakes, u-joint, tie rod end, drive shaft etc. Needles to say it gets expensive, because I drive my truck in some really crappy rough muddy roads where I am in 4wd for hours a day. Right now my truck is so muddy you can not even tell what color it is. I have owned only Dodge products my whole life, but when it comes down to it, for my business and the rough abuse the truck takes, I think in the long run the Toyata might cost me less to operate and maintain and that means more money in my pocket!

How small a truck are you talking about? They have been making Diesels for small trucks for years and very good ones at that.

They try to kill an old hilux on this british car show. Pretty neat all the things thy did to it and it still moved under its own power. I'd like to have an old one as a toy/play truck if any ever came here.

Toyota diesel = already done everywhere but the States. the Hilux 2.8 and 3.0 turbo diesels are pretty dang popular overseas. visited a few people in Thailand that owned some and they couldn't say enough good things about them.

Yeah, It's kind of funny. When this post started 3 years ago, quite a few people said it would be released in 2009. Well, here we are. Humm, I haven't seen anything at the Yota dealer yet.
