Question Are stacks "hillbilly" ??

I want to put 5" chrome stacks in the bed of my truck. I use the bed for hauling so I will T the exhaust under the bed and come straight up in each corner. If you look in the bed you will only see the 2 stacks themselves.
My wife and a few others have told me that I should not put stacks on it because they are "hillbilly". Now I feel thast if they are done right with taste they will be fine, it's not like I am using PVC wrapped in tin foil or something. I am looking for opinions before I do this since it is not going to be a very cheap mod.

Ohhh, and this truck will have a lift on it in the future. Anybody have pics of a newer lifted dually ?

Hillbilly? Yep. Should you do it? Oh yeah. Done right they look
Do what YOU want, not what you think someone else would or wouldn't do.

I think they will look good, but it really ticks me of when people talk dookie and I want to have a truck that is envied, not laughed at.
I realize that there will always be some people that hate anything, (just like my 95 sitting on 38's) but I am looking at a majority thing here.

Everyone who's seen my truck in person always asks "Are they real?" and "What are they for?". I usually show them

I've gotten nothing but compliments.

If done tastefully they look great. Don't have them sticking 3 feet above the cab. IMO, they look best about 1-2" above the cab and with a miter cut on them. Say no to turn outs.

I have no problem with stacks and have never heard anyone call them hillbilly but have heard people say that putting them on a pickup is for big rig trucker wantabes. They probably won't say it to your face though.
Who cares, it's your truck.

I get fewer complaints from fellow drivers when the smoke is a little above them instead of in their face

But....I get more complaints from my neighbor at 6am when the trucks a warmin' up.....something about his windows rattling......its gotta be the timing though I think

Of course I like them [ check my members photos ]

You may want to rethink putting the Y below the bed and then coming through with just the stacks.
Most that I've seen that way look bad.
If not done corectly you will see the pipes below the frame.
And with 5" pipes it would be tough to get between the frame and bed.

Just a thought to consider

Like said before do it to please yourself.

I plan on running 4" up to the stack and having a 5-4" reducer there.
If there is not enough room, which I see will be tight, then I will go ahead and put a 3" body lift on the truck. I need the bed space and can't eliminate the use of the 4'x8' area.

I've had mine on for about 6 months or so now and have really only received one complaint - my wife!

Everyone who have come to me and asked about them give me nothing but compliments and most ask me to start the truck to hear it. I had to opt to run the T in the bed as the fuel tank was in the way below - I don't really mind as it's not really in the way and all I carry is a wheel barrow and a box of test cylinders - I'm a construction special inspector. I've done a little more updating to the truck than you can see in the photo's in my gallery, I need to get the updates in there as soon as I wash the monster ...

The only real problem I've had since installing them is that I can no longer drive it with the back slider open - I can't hear the engine nor radio!

I would hope not, unless you have a bad smoker.
