question for fredw or other dmax guys
They are already pretty high for what I understand. I think in stock form it can get ofer 1300. Here is a web site for the D-Max they can help more.

we have been tinkering with an 05 lly....juice with attitude nets good gains, with no egt issues at all.about 1400 really pushing it is all..the allison has been acting up.i have talked to numerous maxi guys and they all say this is common.need to carry to a dealer and get all TAPS cleared for all gears....thought you might wanna know about that if it acts up with hunting for gears,or holding on to the gears to long.......................bama
the dmax can handle egts of over 1800 for periods of 30-40 seconds, now most power adderswont give you heat any ways near that, the thing to remeber is keep the hp added to about 100 hp for aa stock tranny and you shouldnt have any trouble, with a superchip, tuner i have 2 buddies pulling 9,000lb trailers daily on high with no issues at all.this is flat land however i am sure if mountains or big hills were involved a loweer power level would be needed
just seen the post now:
yes to what kingd has stated, i have pushed 1800 degrees for more than 20 seconds with no problems, but keep in mind if i would try that with a 10 k trailler pulling up a big mountain grade i would probaly burn a hole threw the piston
if your buddy is looking for some good hp just find a 100 hp tune, bully-dog, superchip ect. will be just fine, and should have no problems towing with that hp, and he will not need to touch the tranny
now if he is looking for all the diesel power he can make, he would need a tranny upgrade first,(ATS, Suncoast, DTT) and find a strong tune(PPe or WESTERS) with a good lift pump (kenendey diesel)with that combo you should be around the 460 to the wheels, add propane(powershot) and you can be close to 500 to the ground with better mileage tobout

for short term use, like the track or other 20 second stunts, higher egt than 1350 can be had
but i have seen holes in the top of pistons if that high temperture is maintained, like up a step grade towing where egts are high for minutes...
the holes in the piston are caused from the high pressure spray pattern from the injector, over comming the melting point of allunimum(1372degrees)
