I think you should man up, buy one of those turbos and then prove us all wrong Since you wish to ONLY hear from people that will tell you it is a good idea to waste your money on Cheap Chinese junk, why don't you put in any future threads that you only want to hear POSITIVE responses That way you can go ahead and buy the junk thinking you did real well and then come back and blame us for not warning you in the first place Sort of makes as much sense as blaming the auto makers for following Federal laws and no longer using the 4bt engines doesn't it?
thanks for youyr opinion...it has been duly noted

it was more than just the pay cut, international truck and engine is a very crooked company to work for, we believe the main reason for the new contract they wanted us to take was that it had some very vague things stuck in it. no guaranteed work, and sub pay if layed off. basically just a bunch of stuff to keep them from having to give us what we have now so 98% of us turned it down and all your blocks except the duramax will now come from tupy brazil. the new ford, 6.7 cummins and the 6.4 powerstroke. since the work is going out of the country im am now a "displaced worker" and the government is going to pay for my education. so if any of you guys buy a ported head with the tupy stamp ground off it, it more than likely is one of mine. lol

China dumping steel...inferior steel in Canada makes me think its no different then them dumping knock off turbos too. The company I work for just won a court case against China for dumping steel. The guys over at R&D enlightened me on the poor quality of the steel and its failure rates.

I suggest you get two turbo's from the China sellers and a new MADE in America turbo...set all three in a row and start comparing. There will be differences that will effect longevity, durability and safety.
Been there and done that with a few parts.

Unfortunately as mentioned many MANY parts and tools are now being outsourced to China to SAVE A BUCK and LOSE A WORKER. In the news its apparent that the governments of many countries need to get some spine and fight the protectionist ways of China and their efforts to keep their currency devalued. Want to guess why nobody is REALLY taking action against it?
My guess is there are too many friends and corporations reaping/raping the benefits to make a fast buck and nobody wants to postpone their retirement in the interest of a good product and fair wages over here.

Ok Lary, send me to my room, I am WAY off topic...sort of.

I see this moving to the political forum.

Good luck on your efforts and do let us know if you get the opportunity to compare some turbos.

Scotty

Hi,
I know the topic is straying..... and sometimes for a good cause
I mentioned before, after consideration, and lack of POSITIVE input regarding the china junk (I suspected as much, but was approcaching with an open mind),I have decided to rebuild mine should the need arise.
I cleaned up the inside and examined for sideplay and contact and have determined that my turbo is in excellent shape.
OK....time for a new subject........

My suggestion, Investigate the manufacturer. Look into their quality control programs. There are Chinese manufacturers that produce comparable quality goods.

Glad you had a look at the stocker. My suggestion to look at the China ones beside even your used one would shed some light on the lack of tolerances they have in order to produce products. As cougar mentioned, not all are bad.
I even read that you were going to rebuild...but I worked last night and had not drank enough coffee...I guess Lary will send me to my room again. LOL
Lary is mean to his younger twin.
