Well they are bragging about fuel mileage let's see if they can keep it on the road for more than one tank of fuel. You can have fuel mileage, torque, hp, looks and towing capacity but it won't be worth a dam without reliability.

I honestly believe you could get 25+ mpg out of that new Ford diesel engine. While driving 50 mph. I guess most people wonīt drive that slow, so itīs irrelevant. But a lot of people are going to jump on it. Their new auto tranny seems to be really nice in keeping rpmīs low, no early downshifting and not lugging the engine.
Now the question is if that engine is more reliable than the old 6.0 and 6.4. I would say it is, but only time will tell.

I agree. If we drove our diesels at 50 to 55 MPH we'd get outrageous mileage, but what we saved in fuel costs would be eaten up in traffic tickets for "impeding traffic".

Man, Ford is getting set up big time. This thing better be more reliable than a 12 valve and get better than 25mpg at 70mph or people are gonna be some mad! I certainly don't believe the hype (fuel mileage wise) For now I'll just be happy that my truck still has hands down the BEST diesel engine to ever grace a pick-up truck!
