Pickup VS Bigrig

I've often wondered why pickup manufacturers don't offer a lot broader engine choices than just one or two engines and maybe 3 trannys? In bigrigs you can pretty much pick anything you want. Is it maybe because everyone would be putting Cummins engines in their trucks ;D? Just curious what your thoughts are...

Generally when you buy a big rig, you buy the cab with whatever under it. Not so easy with the pickup. Ever see a glider kit? It's the cab and chassie, you add the engine, trans and rears. I like the idea though, how about a ram/N14 8)

Speaking of glider kits, one of my coworkers said he saw a tractor glider kit that looks like a Ford P/U. He said it was a pretty awesome sight. It's a private rig. He said it had a Cummins badge over the fuel tanks. I would like to see p/u glider kits. I'd love to have a front end like a big truck that pulls forward for maintenance.

You can get any thing you want if you got the money. I have seen some custom riggs come into town that are 4 by 6 with fifth wheel slide and used to pull RV fifth wheels. One was forsale used at $85000 it had a big CAT engine in it.
