New Ford 6.7 numbers leaked...400/725
#16
I don't think the HP is going to mean much if the truck gets 10-12mpg like the current 6.4L. Several weeks ago I talked to a local diesel shop and said it's the biggest gripe with the 6.4L customers. They are just happy to spend a bunch of money on a Spartan tune just to get it up to 15-16mpg.

I will take a stock 5.9 over a maxxed out v-8. I would rather have a motor that will last 500k+ and get near 20 mpg unloaded. Shoot a 325/610 5.9 will pull way more than needs to be pulled in a 1 ton truck anyway....Give me a 5.9 in a new truck with 250hp 700 tq

Where would the hp/tq numbers be on the big three if there was no epa regulations? Hmmmm it would be an interesting battle of the big 3 if there was a no hold barred hp/tq race.

I honestly think these power wars are a joke! I would give anything to get my Dodge with a 340HP, and 660Lbs rating. I would want the same engine the Cummins offers the medium duties, like 16 quart sump capacity, 2800 RPM governed limit, Rear gear train, and a Cummins 250K engine warranty ect. I laugh at Ford when I hear they have another answer for a diesel buyer. In my opinion, they are only catering to the performance flunkies! With total disregard to longevity and durability. I thing Ford builds great trucks and would buy one in a second, as long as it was gasoline powered!

good pointlook at the international version of the 6.0.....VT360. Much less hp and revs alot less...how many of them do you hear about having problems. Talked to my ups man yesterday, has that motor and over 550k on it. No problems....ford turned it up too much

I'd rather have the fuel mileage than all that HP.
The other side of this is Ford must have confidence in its drive train to handle
that much torque. Truck Price just went up.
I could push the button on the Attitude/Juice three times and come up with the torque. Now the 48RE imput shaft and tranny might be hurting if I towed in that position. If I could find a 4:30 ring and pinion for my truck I would not worry about it. No one makes one. Wish I still had my Dana 80.

That's exactly right . Dodge could have tuned the Cummins in the heavy vehicles to produce more hp but they went for reliability . I read that in a press release when the 4500/5500 first came out .
