That new Duramax.......
I'd never trade my '07 emissions free Cummins.....but that new Duramax seems like a bad ... truck. All reviews of the truck say its awesome. I may go test drive one just to see for myself. My Cummins just has too much "character" it get rid of...Has anybody here driven one? Comments?

Agreed, I have never liked the look of the Chevy trucks or their IFS...but I gotta give props to that engine/tranny combo. I'm curious about how it holds up over time.

A friend just bought a '11 Denali HD dually. Very nice truck, has good power, the exhaust brake is real nice. Never looked under the hood, as it was -15 dark. I was expecting the dmax to pull past 3k rpm, but it dived right off just like my 12v does. I'm sure some EFI Live will fix that up. I certainly wouldn't turn one down if it were given to me.

I work at a Chevy dealership and get to drive them frequently and I must say they are nice. The old mechanics there thought it was a joke when a memo came out that said to add exhaust fluid on the new ones. lol

That's right up there with blinker fluid and muffler bearings.

We have 1 of the new Duramax's and 2 new 6.7 strokers for service trucks at work. I got to pick up both trucks from the dealer and put roughly 60 miles on each delivering them. Both are 2x4 LB basic models. The Chevy rode better, seemed to have more gitty up and go and I like the interior more over the Ford. The Fords are reporting better mileage though. I don't want to work on either one when the warranty runs out.
If I had to choose between the two, id drive away with the DirtyMax.
The exhaust on both trucks has a very distinctive smell to it. Doesn't quite have that raw diesel smell to it.

When i got my ram (dec '10) i drove a ford, and look at the chevy the same day at the same dealer. I always loved (as still do) the King Ranch crewcab short bed, but something was missing... maybe 10k more msrp lol... and the chevy well i never really like the new looks
so now that i read the good reviews about the duramax, i believe my ram its only missing a better transmission

I was reading that big shoot out thing, and naturally the Dodge lost the acceleration tests, and got totally blown out of the water in the trailer towing up a grade test.
I'm more about operating costs than bragging rights, though, and what really got me was the Chevy (and Ford) burned less fuel while outpulling the Dodge...
