Muffler Recommendation

I have a buddy with a 93 GMC 6.5L diesel which is currently straight-piped. Being that he's fairly broke, I'm looking to find a muffler to put on his rig for a better sound and peace in the neighborhood.

Current exhaust size is 3", and there are no mods of any kind to the engine.

Thanks
garrett

Being fairly broke, I would go down to your favorite discount parts store, and buyt the biggest cheapest one you can get.

You might also find one in a bone yard.

look for a resonator. it'll calm it down, be cheaper and simpler to install than a muffler cause it'll be smaller and lighter

He's lucky - some folks are unfairly broke!

I ran a 3" race (straight through) muffler from jegs on my old 6.5td. Was like $32.

When I had my old dodge gasser I had a muffler that cost like $20 and worked good, it was called Raptor, let me look for it...

Looks like 3" is a little more $$, but 35 bucks aint bad for a 3" muffler

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure that the muffler I pick out can handle a diesel. One of the bullet race mufflers and a resonator from Summit will most likely be the right choice to make this thing sound stock again without spending $400 on a whole new system.

Thanks,
garrett

I believe 02 and older ran the 3" exhaust. Post your 'wanted' in the classifieds.
